Motorway Update

Work on the Playa Mogan section of the motorway is now progressing quickly.This week there have been many disruptions to traffic on the GC 500 and this will be the norm for the next few months as the work proceeds.These roadworks only affect traffic travelling to Mogan Pueblo and so travellers going to the beach are mostly ok.

Cactualdea

The Cactualdea park in the west of the island of Gran Canaria Just one hours drive from Playa Mogan is a must for all gardeners and cactus fans. Here there is more than 1,200 types of cactus  from all over the world. Including exotics from Mexico, Madagascar, Guatemala and Bolivia which grow between palms or aloe Vera in the blue sky. Small and elegantl with and without blossom and in an impressive setting this 15,000 square meter cactus garden is an exotic experience of the special kind. You also be inspired to create your own cactus garden when you return home and take some of the many different cactus plants home with you. A small gift is included as a souvenir in the entry price. For the healthy growth of the plants, the water rich in minerals which bubbles from its own spring is used and also can be bought by visitors to the park. It soon becomes becomes clear that water is not like  the water you drink at home.

Winter in Mogan

Playa Mogan is getting very busy now in the run up to the Christmas and New Year period. After the Christmas period things stay busy for the winter season with most Hotel rooms and self catering apartments fully booked until Easter. Although most accommodation is let and the days are very busy with tourists from other resorts in the evenings Mogan becomes relaxed once more. With daytime temperatures still in the Thirties Mogan is very pleasant place to spend the winter and the beach is very popular with the sun bathers and swimmers.

MOTORWAY

Latest picture of the new motorway to Playa Mogan.Should be open towards the end of next year.Whilst it wont make a lot of difference to tourists other than getting them to the resorts a few minutes quicker it will make a big difference to the lives of the people who live and work here.
